The Metrolink F59PHR ML was developed from the GP59 freight locomotive and was adapted to meet modern emission standards and run passenger services. Capable of generating 3000 horsepower it proved perfect for the sprawling Californian rail network. The F59 gets 3 Scenarios on the Antelope Valley Line and can also be used on the Los Angeles–San Bernardino route (which comes with TSW5), with an impressive 41 & 64 timetable services respectively.

Although a new model to TSW, the F59 is undeniably similar and related to the F40PH-2CAT CT97 (as used in Peninsula Corridor) and the F40PH-3C MBTA from Boston Sprinter & Boston–Worcester. Apart from the obvious plain white livery and the safety plate covering the nose, the main difference we found was that the side entry doors don't work so you get in/out through the nose door.

Easy to learn (it has the usual tutorial at TSW's in-game Training Center) and simple to drive, the F59 brings a pleasing level of authenticity and a classic locomotive design to Antelope Valley, the only thing it lacks is a colourful livery, but you can soon fix that by making one in TSW5's Livery Designer or by downloading one from the Online Sharing Hub.

A price of £12.99 (£11.69 with Game Pass) seems about right, although I can't help feeling Dovetail would sell a heck of a lot more copies if they reduced the price of their DLC a bit.
Many thanks to Dovetail Games and Indigo Pearl for the review code.
